Instruction Set
All music CAM’s are timed of an asynchronous enable signal, no synchronous clock is used. This allows for power efficient device operation, not wasting switching power when the device is idle. Operations start at the falling edge of the enable signal and all device relevant clock signals are internally timed. The enable signal minimal high and low times are clearly mentioned in the device datasheets and may vary for different types of instructions. The device speed grade is always referring to the chip enable cycle time of the compare instruction (other instruction types may be faster).  The result of a compare operation will be presented on the flag outputs of the chip but are also available for reading out of the device status register. For speed sensitive applications the flag outputs can be used as asynchronous interrupt flag to the controller.
